Announcements (4-14-24)

We are thrilled you are participating today - whether you are here in person or online - or are just interested in what is happening at St. Peter’s. If you arrived here by a YouTube feed, we hope you were encouraged by Pastor Mark’s message. Check out St. Peter’s - Edina page for more messages.

If you are on campus, stop at the welcome center for a “Welcome Home” book with more details about St. Peter’s. We’d love for you to call us your church home.

If we can serve you in some way or you’d like to receive a weekly email complete the Digital Connect Card.

Jesus in His Own Words

John’s Gospel records 7 “I AM” statements of Jesus. Those bold claims of Jesus where He tells people “I AM…” are somewhat familiar. You have heard several if not all of them. We are going to look at who Jesus was speaking to and what just happened in the story line. It will be helpful to have a Bible to experience Jesus as He makes His identity clear. Don’t have a Bible? Find an app on your phone or look at Bible Gateway on a computer or tablet. Do you need a Bible of your own? Reach out to Lowell and he will ask you a few questions and put the right Bible in your hands. He is part of an organization called International Bible Givers.

Have you heard about The Chosen?

The Chosen is a Christian historical drama television series. It is the first multi-season series about the life and ministry of Jesus and the different people who met and followed or otherwise interacted with Him. If you want to experience Jesus in a whole new personable way, you will want to watch!

Even though season 4 has not been released to the public, churches have an opportunity to show it to our community. But we also think you might enjoy starting at the beginning. St. Peter’s is going to present season 1 on the big screen in our theater downstairs. We will view 2 episodes each night and will serve fresh popcorn and a light meal. Please complete the five-question survey if you are interested so we can plan. We need your input on the best time for our first showing.

There will be no charge to watch but will ask that you share some food / drinks.

The Chosen - Season 4 - Bible Study

We have a group has worked through the first 3 seasons of The Chosen together. They have been challenged by Jesus’ tender message and the reaction of the chosen ones = the disciples Jesus called to follow Him. They are ready to jump right into season since we have access as a church.

Wednesday mornings 10:00-11:30am. There is a chair, a guide, and a Bible ready for you!

Oracles of God: The Story of the Old Testament

This morning is the final session of this study.

Discover the origin and history of the Old Testament Scriptures. Join us as we embark on a mesmerizing exploration through time, tracing the footsteps of Moses, the Torah, and the Israelite kingdom. We will follow the drama of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Hebrew Bible’s genesis.

Bring some treats down the elevator to the Underground Room for a full cinematic experience! We will start at 10:45am and wrap up at 11:30am.

Culture Shock

Attention men! Ready for a thoughtful way to start your weekend? Every Friday morning, a group of men gathers with Bibles in hand and we ask some questions so we can grow in our faith together. It is early enough to get to work - or there are donuts to share for as long as you want if you are retired. We are starting a new study this week and we purchased 2 extra guides. We have one new young man who joined us via Zoom. But we still have a copy for you! Click below to learn more about the study. Are you ready to join in? We do it hybrid so that you don’t even have to be in person!

Now what?

We have created an anonymous tool on our website for you to discover your next step today. You can either explore ways to discover, connect, and engage on your own or you can answer some brief questions for a guided process with suggestions of what to do next to grow in your faith as a follower of Jesus.

St. Peter’s Facility Fund

A Facility Fund was started to cover the cost of special projects around the building without straining the ministry budget. The types of projects are ongoing. The first projects were urgent/emergency needed work that the Board authorized utilizing cash reserves since the work needed to be done. There are more projects that will be tackled as funds enable us to do so. Time for an update!

Donations to the Facility Fund through the 2023-2024 ministry year: $15,795

Spent in 2024 on projects: $73,200
HVAC Controls: $61,600 (completed)
Building Electric Supply from the power pole: $11,600 (completed)

During this time of tax refunds, would you consider making a generous gift to the Facility Fund?

Blood Drive at St. Peter’s

In partnership with the Rotary Club of Minnesota Veterans (Pastor Mark is a member) it is time for the 17 quarterly American Red Cross blood drive we have hosted here. Blood, and the many derivative projects enabled by your blood donation, is always needed for area VA hospitals and other medical facilities and hospitals in the Upper Midwest.

Not a blood donor? Bring donations for Veteran Organizations:
- nice used clothing for veteran families
- new cleaning supplies and other items to establish apartments for single vets
- food for veteran households
- used electronic recycling (cell phones, games, computer equipment)

Thursday, April 25, 1:00-7:00pm
