Ready to Hear a Story?
This week, we wrap up a summer series of messages titled “Seeing Yourself in the Story.” What story? There are many stories going on. But the best one is the one that God has plopped you right in the midst of. The story of how He is writing new chapters as you live each day.
We have listened to a parable each week as Jesus invites you to see yourself in the story. This week, we are reminded that the story is to be continued!
If you are attending our in-person service, be sure to stop at the Welcome Center after worship to get a gift bag filled with appreciation for you being here. Please take a minute to complete a Connect Card in the seat back and share it with the smiling person behind the Welcome Center so we can welcome you with a gift. If you are connecting online, fill out a Digital Connect Card so we know you were with us and can provide answers to any questions you may have. Please worship with us again soon.
Heartbroken Over School Shooting
Please join us in praying for all victims, their families, faculty, staff, and parish members—especially in the days ahead.
When a tragedy like this occurs in a faith-based school in our city, it is natural for us as parents to feel fearful and anxious for the safety of our own children. We continue to operate here at St. Peter’s with a soft-lockdown as a daily protocol. That just means that M-F from 8-5, when children are present, our doors are locked. Codes are provided to ECEC families and to church members for access to the building, or you can use the intercom/camera system.
Similar to Annunciation, Wednesdays in our center begin with chapel time. That was where we were when we received news and immediately moved our children to safety. We also did not go out to the playground on Wednesday as a precaution. The Edina Police Department immediately reached out to offer assistance and assurance. We will also continue to evaluate and strengthen our safety and security protocols moving forward.
We ask you to join us in ongoing prayer for God’s protection over our school, and that He would comfort and uphold our brothers and sisters at Annunciation Church and School during this tragic time for their community. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16. Even in the midst of a difficult tragedy, we live assured that we are fully and unconditionally loved by the God who gave His Son for us. We’ve attached a comforting message from our LCMS District President.
Stories are Important!
You know how stories begin. What about the chapters in the middle? Adventures, events, ups, downs, challenges, opportunities, victories. Do you see yourself in the story / His story / their story / your story? Enter the story!
When you see the exciting adventures God is writing in the book of your life, you will start seeing yourself in the stories of others and the way God is at work in their lives too! Welcome to adventure of life stories - and seeing yourself in the story.
The diagram summarizes St. Peter’s ministry plan. There are people all around us and God is at work in each and every life. Walk beside them. Then as a church we come together to tell what we see God up to - we tell each other stories of what Jesus is doing. That inspires each of us to immediately go and participate in the lives of others. Then we come back with more stories and the cycle repeats itself over and over. See yourself in the story!
The Chosen - Season 5
The Chosen is a Christian historical drama series. It is the first multi-season series about the life and ministry of Jesus and the different people who met and followed or interacted with Him. If you want to experience Jesus in a personable way, you will want to watch! The 8-episode season begins with Palm Sunday and ends with the Lord's Supper.
Join us at St. Peter's on Sunday mornings to view an episode each week. St. Peter’s is presenting the current season, Season 5, on the big screen in our Theatre Room downstairs. There is no cost to attend. Prior seasons are available free on The Chosen app.
NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO SHOWING ON LABOR DAY WEEKEND.
Early Childhood Openings
We have a spots open for a 3, 4, and 5 yr old in our Preschool and Pre-K programs. Our professional early childhood teachers incorporate learning through play and rigorous academics here at St. Peter’s. Our students go on to accomplish great things and enjoy school - well prepared for kindergarten and beyond.
Pray that God will give us the opportunity, privilege, and responsibility to meet families at the intersection of faith and real life and that we might be able share the Good Shepherd’s love with precious lambs.
Christian ECEC Teacher Position
St. Peter’s Early Childhood Education Center has an immediate opening for a teacher qualified educator in a classroom float role for 30-35 hours a week.
In addition, the number of 3 yr olds will increase and we will expand our Busy Bee Classroom and need a teacher aide in that classroom beginning in January.
Please join us in prayer that the Lord would guide us to our next compassionate teacher. If you are aware of a potential candidate, please pass along this information.

The Keynote Speaker for the 2025 offering is Rev. Dr. Reed Lessing. Our topic for this year is Genesis 1-11: From Creation to Confusion. The newest series runs from September 10 to November 19. This is part one of a two-year series on Genesis. Each session includes a 40-minute presenter lecture with an attached small group discussion guide.
