Joining Jesus on His Mission

Jesus invites you on His mission. You might have a picture in your mind of what a missionary does. Maybe it is time to push aside the thought that a missionary is a person who is sent to country far, far away and realize we are invited by Jesus to join Him as neighborhood missionaries. And Jesus is already at work there - and invites you to join Him. Does that sound a little more doable?

In these next weeks, we want to alter the way you see your life as a follower of Jesus. It is time to join Jesus!

If you are attending our in-person service, be sure to stop at the Welcome Center after worship to get a gift bag filled with appreciation for you being here (and information). Please take a minute to complete a Connect Card in the seat back and leave it at the Welcome Center so we can welcome you with a gift. If you are connecting online, fill out a Digital Connect Card so we know you were with us and can provide answers to any questions you may have. Please worship with us again soon.

Mission Study Sunday Mornings

You are welcome to join us for a discussion of the Joining Jesus on His Mission book on Sunday mornings at 10:45am in the Discipleship Room. We will go through Pastor Greg & Susan Finke’s book, so be sure to pick up a copy on the Welcome center and bring the book with you. We will view a video by the authors each week to kick off our discussion.

What makes this so powerful is that when we notice Jesus is at work around us, we have a story. And that story encourages and will help others in the class not only celebrate with you but be better prepared to see what Jesus is doing themselves. How empowering is that? Know this: Jesus is busy getting the attention of those in your “neighborhoods.” So, are you ready to be an everyday missionary? It is much, much easier than you think.

St. Peter’s is investing in you as a missionary. Pick up a copy free of charge today.

Quarterly Red Cross Blood Drive at St. Peter’s

St. Peter's, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Minnesota Veterans, invites you to a blood drive on Thursday, October 23, in our sanctuary. Your donation can save lives, as blood is essential for surgeries, cancer treatments, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries.

To ensure a smooth experience, please schedule your appointment using the link below. Walk-ins are welcome as time permits. Before donating, remember to hydrate, eat a healthy meal, and bring a photo ID or donor card. After your donation, enjoy complimentary refreshments and rest for a few minutes. Your generosity provides hope and health to patients in need!

We will also have an electronics drive, adult clothing drive, and a drive for new apartment supplies for vets. Bring items on Sunday or anytime the week of the blood drive.

Fall Festival & Chili Cook-off

We will be hosting our Annual Fall Festival on October 30th. You are invited for a festive evening of dinner, crafts, and classroom trick-or-treating! This year, instead of tacos, we will be having a chili cook-off. Do you have a famous recipe you’d love to share? Sign up to bring your best pot of chili or soup for everyone to enjoy! Guests will vote for their favorite, and the winning dish will be crowned Chili Champion 2025! Proceeds for the voting will go toward our gym renovation fund.

If you are interested in signing up, click on the button below and complete the form. OR stop at the Welcome Center and use the sign up sheet.

Memorial Service for Paul Nagel

After a long battle with dementia, Paul Nagel was called to his heavenly home. Paul loved his last months at the Veterans Home in South Minneapolis.

A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s on Saturday, November 8. Please plan to join the Nagel family and our St. Peter’s family as we give thanks to God for Paul’s life and service.

Paul was 89 years old. Paul and Vonnie were married in 1957. They have been active at St. Peter’s serving in various roles and ministries for a generation.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4

What is missing?

We need Sunday morning treats on the tables. The fellowship time after worship is a great connection point. And what is better than a cup of coffee on a Fall morning? A treat! Would you commit to providing treats one of the remaining weeks of 2025? Bring something for about 40 people including children. Treats can be home baked, store bought, or grown on a tree or vine. Sweet. Healthy. Be creative - do your own thing. Surprise us! All the October & November dates were covered. Now looking for treat suppliers for a couple weeks in December.

Sign up today on the clipboard beside the coffee.

And be sure to stick around a few moments after worship on Sunday - you never know what delicious treats you may discover.

Contribute in the Basket, Online, or by Mail.

We encourage you to join us in the excitement of generous giving and watch what God is doing in our community and around the world. There is a basket near the main entryway if you would like to contribute or go to the giving options on the website by clicking the button below. Perhaps you want to support our ongoing ministry, give to the Mission Fund, or specifically help with the Facility Fund or the Gym Fund. Wherever and however you give, you will partner with God to bless others.

Together we meet families at the intersection of faith and real life.

Facility Fund

Donations to our facility fund are currently enabling us to make payments on the roof. Last spring we replaced our 30 year old roof at a cost of almost $375,000. This was financed through current donations to the Facility Fund, cash reserves of $200,000, and a $150,000 short term LCEF Ministry Improvement loan.

Your donation helps with monthly loan payments and ongoing improvement to the gymnasium. Please use a Facility Fund envelope near the offering basket as you enter the sanctuary, or donate online designating your gift as “Facility Fund.” You can make a one time gift, set up a regular automatic donation (you have control to change or stop the giving at any time). Consider a gift of stock or mandatory retirement spending directed to St. Peter’s. Thank you for helping our ministry for our community and the next generation.

Have you seen me recently in YOUR garage?

A few months ago, someone borrowed a foldable table from the church office for a gathering. If that was you, please return it ASAP. And yes, if you had remembered to bring it back earlier, you wouldn’t have been called out so that when you walk into the building with it everyone will look and whisper, “So they had it!!!” Humility makes you a better person.

We encourage entertaining in your home… but we’d appreciate it if you would please bring back the table so ministries can use it to set up displays. (If you really can’t part with it, or are “uber embarrassed”, a donation of $60 will replace it and we will forget it ever happened.) Before you are quick to judge, maybe you want to look around for any chairs or books or supplies that you could return as well!

Fall is for… Learning!

Ready to grow in your faith? How about using video tools? St. Peter’s provides you with access to 25,000 + videos on a variety of Bible studies, faith building entertainment, and wholesome kids videos. You can stream on your computer or any device. And did we mention there are no commercials?

Upcoming Birthdays

October 22 - Grace Anderson

October 23 - Rosemary Strobel

October 31 - Kevin Clarity

If your birthday is in the next two weeks and you are missing from this list, fill out a connect card and share your birthday so that your St. Peter’s family of faith can life you up to the Lord.

Miss Church?

When you can’t be with us, be sure to visit our website to watch this week’s message. The recorded message is usually very similar to the live message on Sunday morning. It is released at 5pm every Saturday. It is by demand - which means you can listen any time you want. And if you miss a message in a series you can get caught up.

The most watched message of 2025? Words are Powerful.”

Christian ECEC Teacher Position

St. Peter’s Early Childhood Education Center has an immediate opening for a teacher qualified educator in a classroom float role for 30-35 hours a week.

In addition, the number of 3 yr olds will increase and we will expand our Busy Bee Classroom and need a teacher aide in that classroom beginning in January.

Please join us in prayer that the Lord would guide us to our next compassionate teacher. If you are aware of a potential candidate, please pass along this information.

Early Childhood Openings

We have a spots open for a 3, 4, and 5 yr old in our Preschool and Pre-K programs. Our professional early childhood teachers incorporate learning through play and rigorous academics here at St. Peter’s. Our students go on to accomplish great things and enjoy school - well prepared for kindergarten and beyond.

Pray that God will give us the opportunity, privilege, and responsibility to meet families at the intersection of faith and real life and that we might be able share the Good Shepherd’s love with precious lambs.
