All: I give You my worry; silence all my fears. With you by side, I need not tremble for your name is powerful. Amen.
Tremble
Peace bring it all to peace
The storms surrounding me
Let it break at Your name
Still call the sea to still
The rage in me to still
Every wave at Your name
Jesus Jesus You make the darkness tremble
Jesus Jesus You silence fear
Jesus Jesus You make the darkness tremble
Jesus Jesus
Breathe call these bones to live
Call these lungs to sing
Once again I will praise
Jesus Jesus You make the darkness tremble
Jesus Jesus You silence fear
Jesus Jesus You make the darkness tremble
Jesus Jesus
Your name is a light that the shadows can't deny
Your name cannot be overcome
Your name is alive forever lifted high
Your name cannot be overcome
Jesus Jesus You make the darkness tremble
Jesus Jesus You silence fear
Jesus Jesus You make the darkness tremble
Jesus Jesus
Jesus Jesus
Jesus Jesus
Jesus Jesus You make the darkness tremble
Jesus Jesus
Scripture Reading
Luke 2:41-52 (NIV) - Every year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the Festival of the Passover. When he was twelve years old, they went up to the festival, according to the custom. After the festival was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends. When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”
“Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he was saying to them. Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
STP KIDS Dismissal
STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!
Message
“__________ makes me anxious.”
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) - Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Dealing with Anxiety
1. Stop trying to control everything
2. Pray
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
O God my Father
There is no shadow
Of turning with Thee
Thou changes not
Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou hast been
Thou forever wilt be
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning
New mercies I see
All I have needed
Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord unto me
Summer and winter
And springtime and harvest
Sun moon and stars
In their courses above
Join with all nature
In manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness
Mercy and love
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning
New mercies I see
All I have needed
Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord unto me
Pardon for sin
And a peace that endureth
Thy own dear presence
To cheer and to guide
Strength for today
And bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine
With ten thousand beside
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning
New mercies I see
All I have needed
Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord unto me

Confession & Forgiveness
Pastor: While Scripture tells us not to be anxious about anything, we worry so much of the time. Big worries, small worries; they all reflect the reality that we don’t trust God fully. As a community of sinners, I invite you to join me in confessing our worries to the Lord.
Pastor: The world around us seems so out of control.
All: When I don’t trust You because I am afraid, forgive me Lord.
Pastor: We worry about how we will meet all our daily needs.
All: When I don’t trust You and I worry about tomorrow, forgive me Lord.
Pastor: God has always been faithful and leads us through difficulty.
All: When I don’t trust You and feel alone and abandoned, forgive me Lord.
Pastor: Too often, we find ourselves overwhelmed and concerned day and night.
All: When I don’t trust You to protect me in all circumstances, forgive me Lord.
Pastor: Discover a peace that reassures the heart, a peace that transcends all understanding. Jesus proved His love for us when He earned our forgiveness by His death on the cross and made the future sure by His resurrection. He now stands guard over your heart and your mind. Don’t worry. He takes care of you and is close beside you. As God’s forgiven children, we boldly confess the promise of Psalm 23:
All: “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and Your staff protect and comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4 (NLT)
Communion
The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.
“Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)
The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) - Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
