Invocation

Son of Heaven

This is the word
Here in the flesh
Living among the meek and lowly
The voice of God
His every breath
Salvation of the world unfolding

Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus

This is His heart
Upon the cross
And from His wounds His mercies flowing
And now the dawn
Put death to death
And ever since that grave’s been empty

Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus

This is His home
Here in our chest
At every door our Savior’s knocking
Oh let Him in
Oh let Him out
With every yes His kingdom’s coming
The sound of every saint rejoicing
Oh Jesus Christ the hope of Glory

Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus

Scripture Reading

John 6:35-40 - Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

STP KIDS Dismissal

STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

Message: I Am The Bread of Life

Exodus 3:13-14 - Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

Exodus 3:14 - “I AM WHO I AM”

John 6:35 - “I am the bread of life.”

John 6:11 - Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.

John 6:27-30 - Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.” Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?

John 6:31-34 - Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”

John 6:35 - Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

John 6:41-42 - At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

John 6:28 - “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

John 6:36-40 - But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.

John 6:35 - “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

Confession & Forgiveness

Pastor: “Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.”

All: Lord, we confess that we do indeed work for food that spoils. Our faith is so immature and often our priorities are out of line. We grab for immediate gratification. We want to satisfy our growling stomachs and our greedy eyes. Forgive me, for I have not sought the Bread that endures to eternal life.

Pastor: “For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. ”In Christ God forgives you!  "If you believe in me, even though you die, you shall live forever!"

All: “Lord, from now on give us this bread.”

Speak O Lord Your Servant Listens

Speak O Lord Your servant listens
Let Your Word to me come near
Newborn life and spirit give me
Let each promise still my fear
Deaths dread power its inward strife
Wars against Your Word of life
Fill me Lord with loves strong fervor
That I cling to You forever

Oh what blessing to be near You
And to listen to Your voice
Let me ever love and hear You
Let Your Word be now my choice
Many hardened sinners Lord
Flee in terror at Your Word
But to all who feel sins burden
You give words of peace and pardon

Lord Your words are waters living
When my thirsting spirit pleads
Lord Your words are bread life giving
On Your words my spirit feeds
Lord Your words will be my light
Through deaths cold and dreary night
Yes they are my sword prevailing
And my cup of joy unfailing

As I pray dear Jesus hear me
Let Your words in me take root
May Your Spirit now be near me
That I bear abundant fruit
May I daily sing Your praise
From my heart glad anthems raise
Till my highest praise is given
In the endless joy of heaven

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
