Greeting & Announcements

Jesus was a master storyteller. He used parables to explain things in common terms vs. religious talk. Then Jesus explained the meaning to His disciples inviting them into His Mission. Are you ready to see yourself in the story?

On Mission

Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

All: Amen!

Pastor: Through the Gospel, the Holy Spirit has called us out of the darkness of unbelief and brought us into His marvelous light to be God’s people.

All: God loved the entire world and sent His Son to be the Savior of all people.  We praise Him for including us in His saving work!

Pastor: He has provided us with His message and His gifts and keeps us in the true faith.

All: He has made us His own; His disciples; His Church. We praise Him for our faith!

Pastor: We have been called to work with Him in His mission. We want to walk beside others so they experience salvation and grow in faith.

All: Praise God for giving us the privilege of working with Him, spreading the seed of His Word, and joining Jesus on His mission to save all people!

The Commission

See my hands look at my feet
It’s okay if it’s hard to believe
I have faith you will do greater things
It’s my time to go but before I leave

Go tell the world about me
I was dead but now I live
I’ve gotta go now for a little while
But goodbye is not the end

Don’t forget the things that I taught you
I conquered death and I hold the keys
Where I go you will go too someday
But there’s much to do here before you leave

Go tell the world about me
I was dead but now I live
I’ve gotta go now for a little while
But goodbye is not the end

End of the journey the end of the road
My spirit is with you wherever you go
You have a purpose and I have a plan
I’ll make you this promise
I’ll come back again but until then

Go tell the world about me
For I was dead but now I live
I’ve gotta go now for a little while
But goodbye is not the end
Go tell the world about me
For I was dead but now I live
I’ve gotta go now for a little while
But goodbye is not the end

Scripture Reading

Mark 4:1-8 (NIV) - Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water's edge. He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: "Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times."

STP KIDS Dismissal

STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

Message

Mark 4:30 (NIV) - "What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it?”

Mark 4:1-2 (NIV) - Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water's edge. He taught them many things by parables

Mark 4:3-8 (NIV) - "Listen!

Types of Soil:
A Path
Rocky Places
Thorns
Good Soil

Mark 4:14-20 (NIV) - The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown."

Types of Human Hearts:
The Path
Rocky Soil
Thorny Soil
Good Soil

Hark the Voice of Jesus Calling

Hark the voice of Jesus calling
Who will go and work today
Fields are white and harvests waiting
Who will bear the sheaves away
Loud and long the Master calleth
Rich reward He offers thee
Who will answer gladly saying
Here am I send me send me

Some take up His task in morning
To their Lord responding soon
Some are called in heat of midday
Others late in afternoon
Even as the sun is setting
Some are sent into the fields
There to gather in the bounty
That Gods Word so richly yields

For as rain and snow from heaven
Water seeds in dusty soil
Causing them to bud and flower
Giving bread to those who toil
So the Lord sends forth His promise
Words of t life and joy and peace
Never void to Him returning
Bearing fruit with great increase

Hearken to the Lord whose coming
Marks the time when grace shall end
When with His angelic reapers
He in glory shall descend
Soon the night the final harvest
Soon the time for work shall cease
Then the souls His grace has garnered
Shall enjoy His Sabbath peace

Prayer

If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team.

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Spirit of the Living God

Spirit of the living God
Spirit of the living God
We only want to hear Your voice
We're hanging on every word
Spirit of the living God
Spirit of the living God
We want to know You more and more
We're hanging on every word

'Cause when You speak
And when You move
When You do what only You can do
It changes us
It changes what we see
And what we seek
When You come in the room
When You do what only You can do
It changes us
It changes what we see
And what we seek

You're changing everything

Spirit of the living God
Spirit of the living God
We're leaning in to all You are
Everything else can wait
Spirit of the living God
Spirit of the living God
Come now and breathe
Upon our hearts
Come now and have Your way

'Cause when You speak
And when You move
When You do what only You can do
It changes us
It changes what we see
And what we seek
When You come in the room
When You do what only You can do
It changes us
It changes what we see
And what we seek

You're changing everything

When You move
You move all our fears
When You move
You move us to tears
When You fall
We fall on our knees
When You fall
We fall at Your feet

'Cause when You speak
And when You move
When You do what only You can do
It changes us
It changes what we see
And what we seek
When You come in the room
When You do what only You can do
It changes us
It changes what we see
And what we seek

You're changing everything
