Greeting & Announcements

Jesus has made our participation in His mission simple. Let's keep it that way. We make it hard when we try to do the work of Jesus rather than what He gave us to do.

Mission Simple: An Affirmation of Faith

Pastor: I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to Him,

All: but the Holy Spirit Has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the True faith.

Pastor: In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian Church on earth and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith;

All: In this Christian Church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers. On the last day He will raise me and all the dead, and give to me and all believers in Christ eternal life.

Pastor: This is most certainly true!

(Explanation of the Third Article of the Creed)

Scripture Reading

Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV) - "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Open The Eyes of My Heart

Open the eyes of my heart Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You
Open the eyes of my heart Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You

To see You high and lifted up
Shining in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy holy holy

STP KIDS Dismissal

STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

Message

Matthew 7:7 (NIV) - "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

Ask.  Seek.  Knock.

Matthew 7:8 (NIV) - “For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

“He who keeps on seeking finds…”

Prayer

If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team.

Confession & Forgiveness

Pastor: Let us confess our sins before God our Father and in the presence of one another.

All: Father, we confess to You that we have sinned in our thoughts and words, in our actions and in our failure to act.

Pastor: We tend to forget about those who do not know You, who need to hear about Your salvation in Jesus Christ.

All: Remind us, Lord.

Pastor: We often miss the opportunities You give us to speak Your words of forgiveness, joy, and love to our families, our neighbors, and our fellow workers.

All: Forgive us, Lord.

Pastor: We often avoid praying for our neighbors because we think it will be too hard to walk beside them. Jesus invites us to join Him in His mission but we have too many excuses.

All: Help us, Lord.

Pastor: God speaks to us His Word of comfort and hope.  He says to us, “Rejoice!  Your sins are forgiven.  As far as the east is from the west, so far have I taken your sins away from you.”  There is now no condemnation for us who are in Christ Jesus, for the blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, cleanses us from all sin.  We don’t deserve this forgiveness, yet it is ours through grace alone.  Christ has set us free from the sin that bound us, that we might become His messengers to declare God’s glory among all people.

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

John 4:35 (MSG) - “I’m telling you to open your eyes and take a good look at what's right in front of you. These fields are ripe. It's harvest time!”

Build My Life

Worthy of every song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
We live for You
Jesus the name above every other name
Jesus the only one who could ever save
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
We live for You

Holy there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonder
And show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love to those around me

Jesus the name above every other name
Jesus the only one who could ever save
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
We live for You

Holy there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonder
And show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love to those around me

I will build my life upon Your love
It is a firm foundation
I will put my trust in You alone
And I will not be shaken
I will build my life upon Your love
It is a firm foundation
I will put my trust in You alone
And I will not be shaken

Holy there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonder
And show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love to those around me
