“Too Heavy”
She drops on the couch exhausted… it has been a long day. But it isn’t over. Are her responsibilities ever completed? In just two hours the baby will be awake again; her 4-year-old may climb into her bed in the middle of the night; another meal; another game; another spelling test; another load of laundry. Hours spent comforting her teen with a broken heart; financial shortfalls; an empty gas tank; the text that screams: “Mom!! Did you forget to pick me up??” Ever feel it is TOO HEAVY?
We love you mom!
And we want to support you. Let us know how we can pray for you and if there is something you need.
Happy Mother’s Day
Today we thank God for the women who nurture, guide, pray, and love with Christ‑shaped hearts. May the Lord strengthen you, refresh you, and remind you that your everyday faithfulness matters more than you know. We pray God’s blessing over you and God’s comfort for those who carry grief or longing today. We celebrate you all: biological moms, adoptive moms, spiritual moms, Grandmothers, Godmothers, caring aunts, foster moms, mentors. Thank you for carrying the load.
The Weekly Prayer Project
Week 19: TOO HEAVY
In 2026 we are following "The Weekly Prayer Project" - a challenge to journal, pray, reflect, and connect with God. Discover what God is doing in your life through a Scriptural promise each week. Be sure to pick up a book at the Welcome Center or request one at prayer@stpetersedina.org. Fill out a Connect Card so we know you were with us and can provide answers to questions you may have. Please worship with us again soon.
Godly Homes…

Isaiah 46:4 — “I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
Have questions about prayer?
You are invited to spend some time building a richer life of prayer. After worship on Sunday morning, we have a discussion and encouragement for your prayer life around a video teaching by Michael DeFazio, professor of New Testament theology at Ozark Christian College. We will explore how to pray, what to pray, answer questions about prayer, and engage in many other topics surrounding prayer in order to expand your knowledge of communicating with our Father.
This week: Common Questions About Prayer
Grab some coffee and a treat and join us at 10:45am after worship in the Discipleship Room just to the right as you leave the sanctuary. All are welcome.
Contribute in the Basket, Online, or by Mail
We encourage you to join us in the excitement of generous giving and watch what God is doing in our community and around the world. There is a basket just inside the main entryway if you would like to contribute - go to the giving options on the website by clicking the button below. Perhaps you want to support our ongoing ministry, give to the Mission Fund, or specifically help with the Facility Fund, the Gym Fund, or the Raise the Roof Campaign. Wherever and however and whenever you give, you will partner with God to bless others.
Together we meet families at the intersection of faith and real life.
GENESIS
No… not the car. Long before that name was a brand of vehicle - our God created the world out of nothing. Humanity was part of that creation. The Creator wants an ongoing relationship with you!
Alright men, it is a perfect time to join a small group that gathers every Friday from 7:30-8:30am. We will begin a study on May 8 in Genesis. Bring your questions, prepare to see the story from before time began, and be challenged to see if it makes a difference in the way you live.
Contact Lowell (612-875-4185) if you want to receive a copy of the book we will use to guide our study. It is massive so you will want to start before Friday. We move fast. We dig deep. We apply what we learn in practical ways. There is a place for you - and a donut.
What are you listening to?
The Lutheran Hour shares the hope of Jesus with hundreds of thousands of people each week. For many, it’s a moment of encouragement in the middle of a busy life. A reminder of God’s grace. A message that meets you right where you are.
More and more people are now accessing messages, devotions,a nd spiritual conversations online—through digital platforms and streaming services that make it possible to listen anytime, anywhere.
On a commute.
During a break.
On a walk.
In a quiet moment at the end of the day.
Moments when you might need to hear that Good News most.
Get Your Unlabeled Theatre Company Tickets
The new show, Once Upon a Mattress runs May 15-24. The actors have worked hard preparing to make you smile. Come see the difference when labels are removed and young men and women truly put their hearts into their performance. Your attendance makes both the actors and shadow partners feel valued!
Would you pray for our pastor?
Pastor Mark will be joining with other pastors at the Minnesota State Pastor’s Conference in Brainerd, May 11-13. May this be a time of rest, encouragement with fellow Kingdom workers, and learning more about grace.
Generosity has become a common word Christians use when talking about giving, often taking the place of the word stewardship. The presentations will look at the way generosity is used in our culture, what it can imply, and what Scripture—both Old and New Testaments—actually teaches. The desire is that our pastors will return to our congregation excited to share how God emphasizes grace and blessing!
St. Peter’s Security Team
We’re excited to introduce a new Security Team to help ensure a welcoming and secure environment for everyone during our worship service. Each service will have two trained team members on duty, one in the sanctuary and one in the commons area, who can be easily identified by their orange lanyards. Their presence is simply to provide support and respond if any needs arise, so you can feel comfortable and focused during worship. If you ever need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to them!
We love it when you worship with us!
Your life is full. When you can’t worship in person, be sure to view the weekly message on the St Peter’s-Edina YouTube channel.
May we add you to our weekly email list so that you get a reminder with a link and the weekly announcements as well?
