Week 34: POUR OUT YOUR HEART
In 2026 we are following "The Weekly Prayer Project" - a challenge to journal, pray, reflect, and connect with God. Discover what God is doing in your life through a Scriptural promise each week. Be sure to pick up a book at the Welcome Center or request one at prayer@stpetersedina.org.

Prayer Bible Study This Morning
Prayer is a powerful weapon! This month, our Sunday Bible Class sessions include short clips from the movie and discussion of challenging Scriptural lessons about the power of prayer.
Even if you didn’t watch the movie screening, the Bible study will still be beneficial. Join us at 10:45am in the Discipleship Room just to the right as you leave the sanctuary.
We have a DVD of the movie we are happy to loan out.
Parking Lot Sealing
In an ongoing effort to maintain the blessing God has given us with our building and grounds, the Board has approved the sealing and restriping of the parking lots to lengthen the life of the surface.
Be aware that both lots will be inaccessible all day Monday. ECEC families will be doing drop off and pick up on the side of the street along the building. For the safety of our children and as a courtesy to our neighbors, there will be no parking on the other side of the street.
We have $2,400 in our parking lot fund and the total cost of the project will be $12,300. If you would like to contribute, please use a Facility Fund envelope or use the button below to give online - marking your online gift Facility Fund.

Volunteer Opportunity
Live nearby and want a simple project? Karl has planted some new plants along the building and Pastor Mark has spread some grass seed and fresh soil in bare spots but it has been a very dry summer.
We are looking for one or two people who would be willing to stop by (day or night) and pick up the hose and water. Everything needed is on the side of the building.
If you are desiring some time for prayer, this would be the perfect opportunity for you! Let Pastor Mark know if you are willing to help.
National Debt
This month America hit a new record: 40 trillion dollars of national debt. The US now pays $1.2 trillion a year in interest alone on the national debt. Your share as a taxpayer? Almost an $8,000 annual burden. How does that sit with you? Does that make you anxious about the future?
We want to help the St. Peter’s community. We have held Financial Peace University classes in the past and are assessing “interest” in offering a weekly Financial Peace University class this fall. Many families today are carrying financial stress, and this course—built on biblical principles of stewardship—provides practical tools for budgeting, saving, eliminating debt, and building a stronger financial foundation.
Because our hope is built on God’s promises—not our financial futures—we can be content and even joyful in the face of massive national debt. In Christ, we are fabulously wealthy. The saints have “become rich” through the poverty of Jesus, guaranteed a “glorious inheritance” that can’t slip suddenly away when the economy takes a turn.
If you or your family would benefit from a Christ‑centered approach to managing finances, let us know if you are interested in learning more about attending this biblically-based class that’s helped millions beat debt, build wealth, and give like never before, please let us know. No need to be concerned - the Shockeys first took it in the midst of struggling with debt while raising a family. Mark & Joann admit they continually need to keep an eye on their finances! Join them as they facilitate this class.
A Changing Church
Walking into a familiar sanctuary and seeing things shift can feel deeply unsettling. Over the years, congregations naturally change. We notice different faces and a shift in how ministry programs operate. Change often brings a quiet sense of loss because we attach deep memories to the way things used to be. Yet, a healthy church must grow and adapt to reach a hurting world. Just as a strong tree grows new branches while its roots dig deeper into the soil, our place of worship must embrace necessary growth to share the gospel effectively.
Join us in prayer that God will use us to meet families at the intersection of faith and real life.
While the methods and aesthetics of a church shift over time, the foundation must remain entirely unshakable. The beautiful truth of scripture never alters. Jesus Christ stays exactly the same through every passing generation. When a congregation anchors itself firmly in biblical truth, it can weather any transition with profound grace.

Baptism
What a joy filled day, last Sunday, to welcome Dorothy into God’s family. May the Lord’s blessing be upon the McManus home. Her parents are Matt & Amanda and her older siblings are Mabel and Winston.

While you wait for season 6 of The Chosen, here is a glimpse of one of the behind-the-scenes stories of James the little.
Jordan Walker Ross plays Little James in The Chosen, but his disability in the show is no act. Born with cerebral palsy and scoliosis, Jordan has sometimes questioned God just like his character. But in this video he answers, “If you had the opportunity to be healed this very moment, would you?” and it may surprise you.
Thank God for the compassion He has given St. Peter’s to reach out to young adults in our community with disabilities.
