Announcements (10-18-26)
Welcome!
We've all experienced broken promises. God's promises are different. But why does God make us wait?
Today we explore why God's timing may test our faith, yet His faithfulness never fails.
Weekly Prayer Project
We are in week 42 in our year-long prayer guides. Remember, all the messages in this series are available on the St. Peter’s YouTube Channel.
Pick up a complimentary copy of the Prayer Project to take with you. Our desire is for you to discover the power of a life of prayer!
Watch/listen to the current or previous messages on your own at a convenient time. Perfect for a walk or listening during a long commute. Start or end the day with a little reflection and prayer. Return and rest!
Godly Homes…
where everyone stands on Biblical promises.
“All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.” — Isaiah 54:13
We all face so much stress every day. Remind one another that God is a Promise Keeper. Click on the button and play this song in your home this week!
St. Peter’s is praying for our family of faith because your home is located at the intersection of faith & real life.
Baptism
What a joy to welcome James into God’s family. May the Lord’s blessing be upon the Diekman home. His parents are Traton & Rachel and his sponsors are Nicolle Riopelle & Jessica Donlon.
The family invites you to enjoy a piece of baptism cake following the service.
If you are interested in exploring baptism for you or your family, please complete a comment card and we will be in touch or speak with Pastor Mark today. He offers an opportunity to sit down together and discuss the sacrament of baptism.
Fall Festival
We will be hosting our Annual Fall Festival on October 29th at 5:00pm. You are invited for a festive evening of dinner, crafts, and classroom trick-or-treating! This year, we will be having another chili cook-off! Do you have a famous recipe you’d love to share? Sign up to bring your best pot of chili or soup for everyone to enjoy. Guests will vote for their favorite, and the winning dish will be crowned Chili Champion 2026! Proceeds for the voting will go toward our gym renovation fund.
Blood Drive
St. Peter's, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Minnesota Veterans, invites you to a blood drive on Thursday, October 22, in our sanctuary. Your donation can save lives, as blood is essential for surgeries, cancer treatments, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries.
To ensure a smooth experience, please schedule your appointment using the link below. Walk-ins are welcome as time permits. Before donating, remember to hydrate, eat a healthy meal, and bring a photo ID or donor card. After your donation, enjoy complimentary refreshments and rest for a few minutes. Your generosity provides hope and health to patients in need!
In partnership with the Rotary Club of MN Veterans, we are also host a drive of used electronics and clothing for Vets organizations.
The Lord’s Prayer Bible Study - Sunday Mornings
Many of us have memorized the Lord’s prayer. But what do the words mean?
If this is the only prayer Jesus taught his followers to pray, it’s worth knowing what it is we are praying! This 6 session study, with video, will take you line by line through this prayer, to discover the meaning and power of each word.
You’ll never pray this prayer the same again!
Join us on Sundays morning at 10:45am in the Discipleship Room for a great discussion about prayer as we look at Jesus’ teaching.
Jellyfish
Unlabeled Theatre is thrilled to announce the U.S. premiere of JELLYFISH by Ben Weatherill.
Agnes and her daughter Kelly have walked the same stretch of Skegness Beach every day for 15 years. They devour ice cream, hunt for crabs and watch as things mysteriously vanish along the shoreline. But when Kelly meets Neil, their cozy world soon begins to unravel. With her mum struggling to understand the needs of a maturing daughter with Down syndrome, Kelly and Neil have to fight for their right to be together. While Agnes and Kelly drift further and further apart, an event is coming that will change all of their lives forever.
With a much smaller cast than most Unlabeled Theatre Company performances, it is very real and mature themed look at life through the eyes of a family going through life change.
Remote Control Racing Ministry on Thursdays
For several years, St. Peter’s has reached our to our community to provide a youth program that provides mentorship, fun, faith development, and learning about cars.
6-16 year olds are welcome to participate. This is a free weekly program that runs for two 8-week seasons. Stop in the gym at 6:30pm to get registered or just come check it out. We are thrilled to have some new students and adult volunteers from the former Burnsville chapter. There is still room for the young racers you know!
Ask Pastor Mark if you have questions - he is one of the weekly leaders. Stop down, this morning, in the Youth Impact Racing Room downstairs (Rm #005) to check out some of the RC equipment.
How are your finances?
It is an honest question. Call it the economy; call it poor money management; call it temptation; call it lack of restraint; call it an opportunity that was just too good to pass up. There are many reasons you may have concerns about your personal finances. What about higher interest rates? What about having enough for retirement? What about credit card debt that seem impossible to pay down?
We want to help the St. Peter’s community. We have held Financial Peace University classes in the past and are assessing “interest” in offering a weekly Financial Peace University class this fall. Many families today are carrying financial stress, and this course—built on biblical principles of stewardship—provides practical tools for budgeting, saving, eliminating debt, and building a stronger financial foundation.
If you or your family would benefit from a Christ‑centered approach to managing finances, let us know if you are interested in learning more about attending this biblically-based class that’s helped millions beat debt, build wealth, and give like never before, please let us know. No need to be concerned - the Shockeys first took it in the midst of struggling with debt while raising a family. Mark & Joann admit they continually need to keep an eye on their finances! Join them as they facilitate this class.
Fall Volunteering
We are blessed with a wonderful facility with all its nooks and crannies, working and non-working aspects. It is amazing what a little effort can accomplish. Got an hour?
Priority needs while the weather is nice:
Grab a shovel and lawn rake and move some gravel under the slides, ladders, and tire swing
Pull some weeks along the playground fence
clean the lower level windows - especially outside
sweep out the outdoor stairwell
Find a full list of projects needing attention by clicking the button below
When you see something, you are most welcome to fix it, straighten it, clean it, replace it. Do it immediately, or stop back anytime. We keep a list of interior & exterior projects you can put some effort into whenever works in your schedule. We will happily provide access!
Thanks St. Peter’s Family!
Millions of Christians don’t vote.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd. Issues important to Christians are on the ballot, yet many may choose to stay home. Statistics show an estimated 40 million Christians typically sit out elections. If believers would vote their values, America would be more closely aligned with Biblical principles.
Look at any church, any given Sunday. Half of that group is not registered to vote. And then split half of that again, so now we're down to a quarter. That's how many Christians who gather on any given Sunday are actually going to vote.
LCEF Loves Church Workers
It’s Church Worker Appreciation Month, and we’re celebrating those who keep LCMS ministries running. This October, we're celebrating the pastors, teachers, musicians, creative directors, DCEs, DCOs, deaconesses, and every worker who shows up for their LCMS ministry, day in and day out.
Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) offers financial and wellness resources to equip church workers to navigate the realities of life in ministry work through every season. See how LCEF supports church workers year-round and how you as a church member can invest to support both our church & ECEC workers AND provide resources for congregations such as the facility improvement / roof loan we received. This is not a donation. Your money earns competitive interest while it supports the work of the church! Funds are invested and available in a similar way as through your bank or credit union:
God is at work all around us…
Our desire is to join Jesus on His mission in our neighborhoods and in our country. Through your offerings, we make Christ known throughout our community - and around the globe.
If you want to join us, go to the giving options on the website by clicking the button below. Wherever and however and whenever you give, you will partner with God to bless others.
Together we meet families at the intersection of faith and real life.
