Joining Jesus as a Family
God placed us in a family. We all have one. God continues to bless us through families. Perhaps Christmas can be a fresh start for you and the impact you can have on others in your home and beyond.
The messages through December will help you weave Jesus’ discipleship process into the rhythm of your family’s everyday life in very practical ways. How to live the fulfilling life of a Jesus-follower as a child, parent, grandparent, foster parent, family member, volunteer, mentor, friend.
If you are attending our in-person service, be sure to stop at the Welcome Center after worship to get a gift bag filled with appreciation for you being here (and information about St. Peter’s.) Take a minute to complete a Connect Card in the seat back and leave it at the Welcome Center so we can welcome you with a gift. - If you are connecting online, fill out a Digital Connect Card so we know you were with us and can provide answers to any questions you may have. Please worship with us again soon.
Christmas Eve Celebration
Join us on Christmas Eve, December 24 at 4:00pm, for Jesus, Prince of Peace—a hope-filled and welcoming service for the whole family. While our children enjoy a special journey to Bethlehem led by Pax the donkey, complete with costumes, a storybook, and a keepsake ornament, the service as a whole invites us to pause and reflect on the peace Christ brings into our lives and our world. Come share in Scripture, music, and the wonder of the Christmas story as we celebrate God’s gift of peace together.
Bring your loved ones and experience Christmas Eve in a joyful, memorable way. We hope to see you there! Remember, more people are open to an invitation to church at Christmas than any other time!!!
We want to sample your Christmas Cookies!
The next two Sundays, we have the annual joy of exchanging Christmas cookies with one another. Even if you don’t prepare cookies, what is your family tradition that you serve? Share it with your St. Peter’s faith family. Don’t bake? Mini weenies, a tin of almonds, venison jerky, a Christmas pear or two (no partridges please). Even those Oreos with red creme in the middle will excite our STPKIDS!
Bring a plate to share one or both of the next two Sundays, December 28 or January 4 during our fellowship time right after worship. Napkins provided!!!
St. Peter’s Ornaments
Since 1957 the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church roofline has been identifiable in our community. This Christmas, we want to provide an opportunity to take home some Christmas joy in celebration of the roof being replaced this past summer so the next generation can gather to worship and learn. It will also help us move toward our goal of paying off the Church Improvement Loan needed for the roof replacement.
The goal of our “Raise the Roof” campaign is to pay off our debt of $150,000 by December 31, 2027.
If you would like to take an ornament home today, the suggested donation is $100.
We are grateful for our artist, Alex Wheeler, who designed and printed them on his 3D printer! The ornaments have a light in them and can be hung from your tree or remove the string and place it on a desktop year-round. Batteries are replaceable.
Thank you for supporting our campaign.
Please bring your Pledge Card next Sunday
Earlier in December, the Board of Directors invited the St. Peter’s family to join us on a “Raise the Roof” campaign to repay our Church Improvement Loan that we secured to replace the 30-year-old roof on our church & school building.
The work is complete - no more drips. But now we have payments to make. The beautiful sanctuary and functional school building has served generations and with a new roof we know that more will enjoy worship and Christian education for a long time.
We are asking for commitments to be brought back next Sunday. A challenge was set of $50,000 in gifts in December and the remainder of the $150,000 loan pledged over the next two years. Would you help us with our ministry goal? Bring back your pledge card next Sunday, December 28 when we will celebrate “A Gift that Lasts” in the service. Additional Pledge Cards are available at the Welcome Center.
“For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.” Psalm 100:5
Did You Know?
There is a small group of St. Peter’s members who have been serving our Edina community by delivering meals through the Crosstown Meals on Wheels organization. We could use some more drivers to pick up meals at Normandale Lutheran Church at 10:45 AM and deliver them to Edina locations on the 4th Monday of each month. The routes generally take less than 2 hours to complete, so it’s not a huge time commitment. If you’d like to join us in performing this vital community service, please call or text Rich Licht at 612-804-7108 or e-mail rjlicht@msn.com.
Unlabeled Theatre Company
The young adult actors have been working hard. The props have been prepared by the young artists. The lines have been memorized. The songs have been perfected. The shadow partners have been investing a lot of time. The directors are getting confident.
Now it is time for you to reserve your seat. The shows will run from January 16-25 in St. Paul. Performances will be at a different location: the Gremlin Theatre in St. Paul. The shows run from January 16-25. Rides will be provided from St. Peter’s parking lot on Sunday, January 25 - talk to the Shockeys if interested. (Be aware this show contains adult themes). Unlabled Theatre Company’s mission is to use live theatre to provide performing, vocational, and life skills opportunities for adults (18+) with disabilities.
Please share your story.
Ready to inspire and encourage others? Tell a story about what the Lord is doing in your life. Did you have a moment where Jesus was at work around you? Did someone ask you a faith question? Did you have an opportunity to show love to a neighbor or a friend? It can be something huge or something very small. A random act of kindness that you were prompted to do? A discussion with a stranger? Share your story. When you do, your Christian friends will be motivated and ready to watch for what Jesus is doing in their lives too.
