What to Expect

Greeting & Announcements

Light a candle and soon the scent is noticeable throughout the whole house. Psalm 141 tells us that when you cry out your prayers go up to God like the scent of incense. He hears, He notices, He listens, He answers.

Trust In God

Blessed assurance
Jesus is mine
He's been my fourth man in the fire
Time after time
Born of His Spirit
Washed in His blood
And what He did for me on Calvary
Is more than enough

I trust in God
My Savior the One
Who will never fail
He will never fail
I trust in God
My Savior the One
Who will never fail
He will never fail

Perfect submission
All is at rest
I know the author of tomorrow
Has ordered my steps
So this is my story
And this is my song
I’m praising my risen King and Savior
All the day long

I trust in God
My Savior the One
Who will never fail
He will never fail
I trust in God
My Savior the One
Who will never fail
He will never fail

I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
That’s why I trust Him
That’s why I trust Him

I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
I sought the Lord and He heard and He answered
That’s why I trust Him
That’s why

I trust in God
My Savior the One
Who will never fail
He will never fail
I trust in God
My Savior the One
Who will never fail
He will never fail
I trust in God

Scripture Reading

Exodus 2:11-25 (NIV) - One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. Looking this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.  The next day he went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong, “Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew?” The man said, “Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought, “What I did must have become known.” When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian, where he sat down by a well.

Now a priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father’s flock. Some shepherds came along and drove them away, but Moses got up and came to their rescue and watered their flock. When the girls returned to Reuel their father, he asked them, “Why have you returned so early today?” They answered, “An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds. He even drew water for us and watered the flock.” “And where is he?” Reuel asked his daughters. “Why did you leave him? Invite him to have something to eat.”

Moses agreed to stay with the man, who gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage.  Zipporah gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom,[c] saying, “I have become a foreigner in a foreign land.”

During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. God heard their groaning and he remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them.

Message

Psalm 141:1-2 (NLT) - O LORD, I am calling to you. Please hurry! Listen when I cry to you for help! Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering.

Psalm 141:8-9 (NLT) - But I'm in constant prayer against the wicked and their deeds... I look to you for help, O Sovereign LORD. You are my refuge; don't let them kill me. Keep me from the traps they have set for me, from the snares of those who do evil.

Do you believe that when you pray, your prayers are going up to God?

Exodus 2:23 (NIV) - During that long period, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God.

What makes you cry out to God?

Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah

Guide me O Thou great Jehovah
Pilgrim through this barren land
I am weak but Thou art mighty
Hold me with Thy powerful hand
Bread of heaven Bread of heaven
Feed me now and ever more
Feed me now and ever more

Open now the crystal fountain
Whence the healing stream doth flow
Let the fiery cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through
Strong Deliverer strong Deliverer
Be Thou still my strength and shield
Be Thou still my strength and shield

When I tread the verge of Jordan
Bid my anxious fears subside
Death of death and hell's destruction
Land me safe on Canaans side
Songs of praises songs of praises
I will ever give to Thee
I will ever give to Thee

Confession & Forgiveness

All: Lord, recognizing my sinfulness, I come before You in repentance. May my prayer go up before You. I am unworthy of Your mercy, yet I know that in Christ I am made pure.

Pastor: Our prayers have gone up to God and because of the great sacrifice of Your Savior, Jesus, you and I will not receive the punishment we deserve. All our sins have been forgiven in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

“Let My Prayers Arise”

Our prayer is sung today - from the Holden Evening Service.

If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team.

Submit Prayer

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.  For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Psalm 141:1-2 - O Lord; hear my voice when I call to You. May my prayer go up before You like incense.

Alabaster Heart

So here it is my alabaster heart
I’m keeping nothing back from who You are
No hidden treasure veiled by key or lock
You’re a lifetime worth of worship
And that’s only just the start

Here it is my every waking day
The minutes hours the years of endless praise
For You’re worthy far beyond all I could say
There’s a lifetime worth of worship
In the nuance of Your names

So let it rise like incense
My whole life a fragrance
Every ounce here broken at Your feet
Every breath an offering
My heart cries
These lungs sing over You
My worthy King of Kings

There it is Your alabaster cross
Giving all You are for all I’m not
I can’t believe that’s the kind of King You are
How could I not bring a lifetime
Worth of worship to You God

So let it rise like incense
My whole life a fragrance
Every ounce here broken at Your feet
Every breath an offering
My heart cries
These lungs sing over You
My worthy King of Kings

All my love
All my love
All my love
You can have it all

All my heart and
All my soul
All I own
You can have it all

All my love
All my love
All my love
You can have it all

All my heart and
All my soul
All I own
You can have it all

All my love
All my love
All my love
You can have it all

All my heart and
All my soul
All I own
You can have it all

All my heart and
All my soul
All I own
You can have it all

You can have it all
You can have it all
You can have it all
You can have it all
