Mercy is not getting what you deserve.

This Week's Announcements

Mercy Litany

Pastor: O Lord,
All: have mercy.

Pastor: O Christ,
All: have mercy.

Pastor: O Lord,
All: have mercy. Amen.

Pastor: Jesus taught His followers to show mercy. He said:
All: “Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.”
(Luke 6:36)

Pastor: Mercy is rooted in our Father's divine nature, expected in human behavior, and is needed across various aspects of our lives.

All: "Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." (Hebrews 4:16)

Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I'm found
Was blind but now I see

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed

My chains are gone I've been set free
My God my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures

My chains are gone I've been set free
My God my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love amazing grace
My chains are gone I've been set free
My God my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love amazing grace

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

Scripture Reading

Titus 3:3-8 (NIV) - At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.

STP KIDS Dismissal

STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

Message

Mercy: Compassion, leniency, or restraint from imposing punishment shown especially to an offender or to one subject to the power of another

Matthew 20:30-34 (ESV) - There were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!" The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!" And stopping, Jesus called them and said, "What do you want me to do for you?" They said to him, "Lord, let our eyes be opened." And Jesus in pity touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight and followed him.

Grace is getting what you don’t deserve
Mercy is not getting what you do deserve

A call to action: HAVE MERCY
• act on behalf of the unfortunate
• forgive those who wrong you
• help those in distress
• show patience and compassion in daily interactions
• treat someone in need with compassion
• reflect God’s mercy in your attitudes and actions

Prayer

If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team.

Submit Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Psalm 40:11 (NIV) - Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord; may your love and faithfulness always protect me.

Lord I Need You

Lord I come I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You're the one that guides my heart

Lord I need You
Oh I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You

Where sin runs deep
Your grace is more
Where grace is found
Is where You are
And where You are
Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

Lord I need You
Oh I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You

So teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus You're my hope and stay

Lord I need You
Oh I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You
You're my one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You

My one defense
My righteousness
Oh God how I need You
