Palm Sunday - Worship
Welcome!
It was a celebration that seemed out of control. The crowds gathered, palm branches in hand. A gathering to worship the King of Kings who entered the city riding on a donkey. Jesus said, if we keep quiet and don't worship, even the stones will cry out in praise.
Thanks for joining us! We’re so glad you’re with us today. If you’re new here and want to find out a bit more about our service, have questions, or want to connect, click the button below.
Christ Be Magnified
Were creation suddenly articulate
With a thousand tongues to lift one cry
From north to south and east to west
We'd hear Christ be magnified
Were the whole earth echoing His eminence
His name would burst from sea and sky
From rivers to the mountain tops
We'd hear Christ be magnified
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me
When every creature finds its inmost melody
And every human heart its native cry
Then in one enraptured hymn of praise
We'll sing Christ be magnified
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me
I won't bow to idols
I'll stand strong and worship You
And if it puts me in the fire
I'll rejoice 'cause You're there too
I won't be formed by feelings
I’ll hold fast to what is true
If the cross brings transformation
Then I'll be crucified with You
'Cause death is just the doorway
Into resurrection life
If I join You in Your suffering
Then I'll join You when You rise
And when You return in glory
With all the angels and the saints
My heart will still be singing
My song will be the same
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
Let His praise arise
Christ be magnified in me
O Christ be magnified
From the altar of my life
Christ be magnified in me
Greeting & Announcements
Palm Sunday Scripture Reading
John 12:12-18 (NIV)
The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!”
Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written: “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”
At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him. Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word. Many people, because they had heard that he had performed this sign, went out to meet him.
Palm Sunday Call to Worship
Pastor: Father, You sent Your Son to ride into Jerusalem, to be betrayed, to suffer, to die, and to rise. Today, may we remember the events of Your Son’s Passion so that we join the crowd worshiping you for our salvation; for You, O Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, live and reign, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Pastor: The children gather.
All: We follow their lead.
Pastor: Grandmothers whoop and shout with joy.
All: We sing loud hosannas.
Pastor: Fathers raise their palm branches above the crowd.
All: We worship Christ the King.
Pastor: Behold, the Son of Heaven riding on a donkey.
All: Blessed is He Who comes in the Name of the Lord!
Son of Heaven
This is the word
Here in the flesh
Living among the meek and lowly
The voice of God
His every breath
Salvation of the world unfolding
Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
This is His heart
Upon the cross
And from His wounds His mercies flowing
And now the dawn
Put death to death
And ever since that grave’s been empty
Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
This is His home
Here in our chest
At every door our Savior’s knocking
Oh let Him in
Oh let Him out
With every yes His kingdom’s coming
The sound of every saint rejoicing
Oh Jesus Christ the hope of Glory
Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
Behold Him
Behold Him
Lift up your eyes
See the Son of Heaven
Hosanna
Hosanna
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus
Pour out your praise
Sing the name of Jesus

Message
Luke 19:37-38 (ESV) - As he was drawing near--already on the way down the Mount of Olives--the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"
Psalm 147:7 (NIV) - Sing to the LORD with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp.
Matthew 26:30 (NIV) - When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Zechariah 9:9 (NIV) - Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Revelation 7:9 (NIV) - After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
Holy Forever
A thousand generations
Falling down in worship
To sing the song of ages to the Lamb
And all who've gone before us
And all who will believe
Will sing the song of ages to the Lamb
Your name is the highest
Your name is the greatest
Your name stands above them all
All thrones and dominions
All powers and positions
Your name stands above them all
And the angels cry Holy
All creation cries Holy
You are lifted high Holy
Holy forever
If you've been forgiven
And if you've been redeemed
Sing the song forever to the Lamb
If you walk in freedom
And if you bear His name
Sing the song forever to the Lamb
We'll sing the song forever and amen
And the angels cry Holy
All creation cries Holy
You are lifted high Holy
Holy forever
Hear Your people sing Holy
To the King of Kings Holy
You will always be Holy
Holy forever
Your name is the highest
Your name is the greatest
Your name stands above them all
All thrones and dominions
All powers and positions
Your name stands above them all
Your name is the highest
Your name is the greatest
Your name stands above them all
All thrones and dominions
All powers and positions
Your name stands above them all
And the angels cry Holy
All creation cries Holy
You are lifted high Holy
Holy forever
Hear Your people sing Holy
To the King of Kings Holy
You will always be Holy
Holy forever
You will always be Holy
Holy forever
Prayers

The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
Luke 19:37-40 (NIV) - When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
Ride On Ride On In Majesty
Ride on ride on in majesty
Hark all the tribes Hosanna cry
O Savior meek pursue Thy road
With palms and scattered
Garments strowed
Ride on ride on in majesty
In lowly pomp ride on to die
O Christ Thy triumphs now begin
O'er captive death and conquered sin
Ride on ride on in majesty
The last and fiercest strife is nigh
The Father on His sapphire throne
Awaits His own anointed Son
Ride on ride on in majesty
In lowly pomp ride on to die
Bow Thy meek head to mortal pain
Then take O God Thy power and reign
Christ Be Magnified
