The Weekly Prayer Project - Troubled Soul
Welcome!
Troubles… we have many. Is your soul troubled? Talk to the Lord. Today, we will find comfort in the fact that Jesus knows our hearts are troubled! He doesn’t leave us in that condition. He comes to us, comforts us, and assures us of a future with Him. That brings peace. Peace that helps us face troubles. Peace that calms our worries.
Thanks for joining us! We’re so glad you’re with us today. If you’re new here and want to find out a bit more about our service, have questions, or want to connect, click the button below.
Invocation & Confession
Pastor: We gather to worship in the name of the one who is the way, the truth, and the life, Jesus Christ, our Lord.
All: Amen.
Pastor: Jesus knows our hearts are troubled. He gives peace. Peace that helps us face troubles. Peace that calms our worries. Today, let go of the sin that troubles and cling to Jesus.
Pastor: When my troubles lead to despair
All: Lord, do not hold my sins against me.
When I am impatient and frustration grows
All: Lord, do not hold my sins against me.
Pastor: When I face despair and think I can solve my own problems
All: Lord, do not hold my sins against me.
Pastor: When my troubles and worries lead me to stop trusting in you
All: Lord, do not hold my sins against me.
Pastor: Jesus is the way, the truth, the life. By His mercy, your sins are forgiven in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Christ has come that your hearts would not be troubled. No matter how great your sin or how troubled your soul feels, walk with joy and confidence as Jesus leads us towards our heavenly home.
It Is Well
Grander earth has quaked before
Moved by the sound of His voice
Seas that are shaken and stirred
Can be calmed and broken for my regard
Through it all through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all through it all
It is well
Through it all through it all
My eyes are on You
And it is well with me
Far be it from me to not believe
Even when my eyes can't see
And this mountain that's in front of me
Will be thrown into
The midst of the sea
Through it all through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all through it all
It is well
Through it all through it all
My eyes are on You
And it is well
It is well
So let go my soul
And trust in Him
The waves and wind
Still know His name
So let go my soul
And trust in Him
The waves and wind
Still know His name
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well it is well with my soul
It is well it is well with my soul
Through it all through it all
My eyes are on You
And it is well with me
Scripture Reading
John 14:1-6 (NIV) - "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Message
Psalms 88:2-3 (ESV) - Let my prayer come before you; incline your ear to my cry! For my soul is full of troubles, and my life draws near to Sheol.
Psalm 3:1-4 (NIV) - LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, "God will not deliver him." But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the one who lifts my head high. I call out to the LORD, and he answers me from his holy mountain.
List three things that make you feel overwhelmed
Search Scripture and find three truths about God’s character, then write those truths beside your burdens
Psalm 22:11 (NIV) - Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.
Psalm 22:19 (NIV) - But you, LORD, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.
Psalm 22:27 (NIV) - All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him

Just As I Am
Just as I am without one plea
But that Thy blood
Was shed for me
And that Thou bidd’st me
Come to Thee
O Lamb of God I come I come
Just as I am and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot
To Thee whose blood
Can cleanse each spot
O Lamb of God I come I come
Just as I am Though tossed about
With many a conflict many a doubt
With fears within and foes without
O Lamb of God I come I come
Just as I am poor wretched blind
Sight riches healing of the mind
Yea all I need in Thee to find
O Lamb of God I come I come
Just as I am Thou wilt receive
Wilt welcome pardon
Cleanse relieve
Because Thy promise I believe
O Lamb of God I come I come
Just as I am Thy love unknown
Has broken ev’ry barrier down
Now to be Thine yea Thine alone
O Lamb of God I come I come
Communion
The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.
“Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)
The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
Psalm 31:9-10, 14 (NIV) Be merciful to me, LORD, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and body with grief. My life is consumed by anguish and my years by groaning; my strength fails because of my affliction, and my bones grow weak…But I trust in you, LORD; I say, "You are my God."
Do It Again
Walking around these walls
I thought by now they'd fall
But you have never failed me yet
Waiting for change to come
Knowing the battle's won
For you have never failed me yet
Your promise still stands
Great is your faithfulness
Faithfulness
I'm still in your hands
This is my confidence
You've never failed me yet
I know the night won't last
Your word will come to pass
My heart will sing your praise again
Jesus you're still enough
Keep me within your love
My heart will sing your praise again
Your promise still stands
Great is your faithfulness
Faithfulness
I'm still in your hands
This is my confidence
You've never failed
Your promise still stands
Great is your faithfulness
Faithfulness
I'm still in your hands
This is my confidence
You've never failed me yet
I've seen you move
You move the mountains
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
You made a way
Where there was no way
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
I've seen you move
You move the mountains
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
You made a way
Where there was no way
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
I've seen you move
You move the mountains
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
You made a way
Where there was no way
And I believe
I'll see you do it again
I'll see you do it again
You've never failed me yet
I never will forget
You've never failed me yet
I never will forget
