Greeting & Announcements

Hidden Treasure. If you know where it is, you will put all your effort toward obtaining it. Discovering the Kingdom of God is like finding a priceless treasure. Possessing that treasure should be pursued and valued above all else.

Hidden Treasure

Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

All: Amen.

Pastor: "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought the field." (Matthew 13:44)

All: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Luke 12:34)

Pastor: God has given us the treasure of His Word and the Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is so easy to allow the things of this world and their perceived value to distract us from the treasure of the Kingdom of God. Take a moment to bring to mind all that hides the treasures from our lives.

Pastor: Most merciful God,

All: We confess to You that we have sinned against You in our thoughts, words, and actions. We have not loved You with our whole hearts. We have allowed the treasures of this world to get in the way of living as Your children. We ask for Your forgiveness.

Pastor: Discovering the Kingdom of God is like finding a priceless treasure. Cherished in that treasure is the forgiveness earned for you by Christ sharing His life in your place upon the cross. This gift of life and salvation is precious. Possessing that treasure should be pursued and valued above all else.

All: The unveiling of what is hidden is found in the Psalms: “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11)

Pastor: Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal."

All: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:19-21)

Alabaster Heart

So here it is my alabaster heart
I’m keeping nothing back from who You are
No hidden treasure veiled by key or lock
You’re a lifetime worth of worship
And that’s only just the start

Here it is my every waking day
The minutes hours the years of endless praise
For You’re worthy far beyond all I could say
There’s a lifetime worth of worship
In the nuance of Your names

So let it rise like incense
My whole life a fragrance
Every ounce here broken at Your feet
Every breath an offering
My heart cries
These lungs sing over You
My worthy King of Kings

There it is Your alabaster cross
Giving all You are for all I’m not
I can’t believe that’s the kind of King You are
How could I not bring a lifetime
Worth of worship to You God

So let it rise like incense
My whole life a fragrance
Every ounce here broken at Your feet
Every breath an offering
My heart cries
These lungs sing over You
My worthy King of Kings

All my love
All my love
All my love
You can have it all

All my heart and
All my soul
All I own
You can have it all

All my love
All my love
All my love
You can have it all

All my heart and
All my soul
All I own
You can have it all

All my love
All my love
All my love
You can have it all

All my heart and
All my soul
All I own
You can have it all

All my heart and
All my soul
All I own
You can have it all

You can have it all
You can have it all
You can have it all
You can have it all

Scripture Reading

Matthew 13:44-46 (NIV) - "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.”

STP KIDS Dismissal

STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

Message

Matthew 13:44 (NIV) - "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”

Philippians 3:7-9 (TLB) - But all these things that I once thought very worthwhile—now I’ve thrown them all away so that I can put my trust and hope in Christ alone. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the priceless gain of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have put aside all else, counting it worth less than nothing, in order that I can have Christ, and become one with him, no longer counting on being saved by being good enough or by obeying God’s laws, but by trusting Christ to save me; for God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith—counting on Christ alone.

Treasure Revealed: The Apostles Creed

All: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate. Was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell.  The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church,  the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayer

If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team.

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Psalm 23:6 (KJV) - Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Goodness Of God

I love You Lord
Oh Your mercy never fails me
All my days
I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up
Until I lay my head
I will sing of the goodness of God

All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so so good
With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God

I love Your voice
You have led me through the fire
In darkest night
You are close like no other
I've known You as a father
I've known You as a friend
I have lived in the goodness of God

All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so so good
With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God

Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
With my life laid down
I’m surrendered now
I give You everything
Your goodness is running after
It's running after me
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
Your goodness is running after
It’s running after me
With my life laid down
I’m surrendered now
I give You everything
Your goodness is running after
It's running after me

All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so so good
With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God
All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so so good
With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God
I will sing of the goodness of God
