Greeting & Announcements
Describe your neighborhood. Who do you see in the neighborhood?
And what about you? Are you a good neighbor?
Jesus invites us to join Him in His mission in the neighborhood. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Jesus doesn't want you to just sit in a church building and learn - He is sending you to participate.
Welcome Neighbor!
Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Pastor: The Bible shows us that wherever and whenever people need us, we can be neighbors and, like Christ, show mercy. Jesus discusses how we should treat our neighbors:
Pastor: “For I was hungry
All: and you gave me something to eat,
Pastor: I was thirsty
All: and you gave me something to drink,
Pastor: I was a stranger
All: and you invited me in,
Pastor: I needed clothes
All: and you clothed me,
Pastor: I was sick
All: and you looked after me,
Pastor: I was in prison
All: and you came to visit me.”
(Matthew 25:34-36)
Pastor: When you love your neighbors, people see Jesus' love flowing through your hands, your feet, your lips, your concern, your embrace. As you show love to your neighbor, you love Him! There has never been a love so great as His - the love of Jesus who entered into our world.

Scripture Reading
John 1:1-14 (NIV) - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
STP KIDS Dismissal
STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!
Message
We live in a neighborhood
Jesus talks a lot about neighbors
John 1:14 (MSG) - The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.

After His resurrection, Jesus visited our earthly neighborhood to bring salvation
A Prayer For Our Neighbors
If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team.
A Prayer of Repentance
Pastor: Gracious God, you call us to a life of hospitality. You call us to honor others above ourselves.
All: We have failed to see and share with our neighbor in need. We have failed to love our neighbors as ourselves. We ask for Your forgiveness, knowing, believing, and confessing that for Christ's sake You offer it freely. By Your Holy Spirit, help us to follow our Savior, living lives that honor Him. Amen.
Good News
Pastor: Jesus tells us that as we serve our neighbor, we serve for Him. As we care for our neighbor, we care for Him. Yet, even though you and I have lived self-centered lives, Christ does not withhold His mercy from us. He lived a perfect life of serving and caring for others. He put you and me first as He willingly gave His life on the cross. And now He strengthens us to show His love in our neighborhoods.
Communion
The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.
“Everyone should examine themselves first, and then eat the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)
The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
Luke 10:27-28 (NIV) - “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”
How Great Is Our God
The splendor of the King
Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice
All the earth rejoice
He wraps Himself in light
And darkness tries to hide
And trembles at His voice
And trembles at His voice
How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see how great
How great is our God
And age to age He stands
And time is in His hands
Beginning and the End
Beginning and the End
The Godhead three in one
Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb
The Lion and the Lamb
How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see how great
How great is our God
Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God
Name above all names
Worthy of all praise
My heart will sing
How great is our God
How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see how great
How great is our God
How great is our God
Sing with me
How great is our God
And all will see how great
How great is our God
