Good Fruit
Pastor: Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” (John 15:5)
All: Lord Jesus, keep us rooted in You, that our lives may bear fruit that brings glory to Your name.
Pastor: “Every good tree bears good fruit.” (Matthew 7:17)
All: Lord, make us fruitful in faith, hope, and love.
Pastor: “...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-23)
All: Let these fruits grow abundantly within us, for the good of our neighbors and the glory of God.
Pastor: “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.” (John 15:8)
All: May our words, actions, and lives reflect Your love, grace, and truth.
Pastor: All over the world this Gospel is bearing fruit and growing. (Colossians 1:6)
All: May the Gospel continue to bear fruit in us and through us.
Build My Life
Worthy of every song we could ever sing
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
We live for You
Jesus the name above every other name
Jesus the only one who could ever save
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
We live for You
Holy there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonder
And show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love to those around me
Jesus the name above every other name
Jesus the only one who could ever save
Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe
We live for You
We live for You
Holy there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonder
And show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love to those around me
I will build my life upon Your love
It is a firm foundation
I will put my trust in You alone
And I will not be shaken
I will build my life upon Your love
It is a firm foundation
I will put my trust in You alone
And I will not be shaken
Holy there is no one like You
There is none beside You
Open up my eyes in wonder
And show me who You are
And fill me with Your heart
And lead me in Your love to those around me
Scripture Reading
Matthew 3:1-10 (NKJV) - In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying: “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight.’ ”
Now John himself was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; and his food was locusts and wild honey. Then Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him and were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not think to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
STP KIDS Dismissal
STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!
Message
Matthew 3:8 (NKJV) - “Bear fruits worthy of repentance”
What do fruits of repentance look like?
1. Changed character
2. Restitution
3. Joining Jesus on His mission
For All The Saints
For all the saints
Who from their labors rest
All who by faith
Before the world confessed
Your name O Jesus
Be forever blest
Alleluia alleluia
You were their rock
Their fortress and their might
You Lord their Captain
In the well fought fight
You in the darkness
Drear their one true light
Alleluia alleluia
And when the strife
Is fierce the warfare long
Steals on the ear
The distant triumph song
And hearts are brave
Again and arms are strong
Alleluia alleluia
(MEN)
Oh may your soldiers
Faithful true and bold
Fight as the saints
Who nobly fought of old
And win with them
The victors crown of gold
Alleluia alleluia
(ALL)
The golden evening
Brightens in the west
Soon soon to faithful
Warriors comes their rest
Sweet is the calm
Of paradise the blest
Alleluia alleluia
(WOMEN)
But then there breaks
A yet more glorious day
The saints triumphant
Rise in bright array
The King of glory
Passes on His way
Alleluia alleluia
(ALL)
From earths wide bounds
From oceans farthest coast
Through gates of pearl
Streams in the countless host
Singing to Father
Son and Holy Ghost
Alleluia alleluia
Prayer
If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team. Speak with Pastor Mark if you desire personal prayer.
Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
John 15:16 (NIV) - [Jesus said] “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last."
Come Thou Fount
Come Thou Fount of ev'ry blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount I'm fixed upon it
Mount of Thy redeeming love
Here I raise my Ebenezer
Hither by Thy help I come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wand'ring from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood
Oh to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let Thy goodness like a fetter
Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart Lord take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above
Here's my heart Lord take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above
Here's my heart Lord take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above
