The Weekly Prayer Project - Forgive My Guilt
Welcome!
David defeated Goliath, escaped Saul, and witnessed God's faithfulness for decades. So why did he still struggle to trust God? Maybe the same reason we do.

Invocation
Forgive My Guilt
Pastor: Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
All: Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them.
(Psalm 32:1-2)
Pastor: When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
All: Day and night Your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.
(Psalm 32:3-4)
Pastor: Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not cover up my iniquity.
All: I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.”
(Psalm 32:5a)
Pastor: And You forgave the guilt of my sin.
All: Thanks be to God for His mercy and forgiveness.
(Psalm 32:5b)
Pastor: You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble.
All: You surround us with songs of deliverance.
(Psalm 32:7)
Pastor: I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.
All: We will listen for Your voice and follow Your ways.
(Psalm 32:8)
Pastor: Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord's unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in Him.
All: We place our trust in the Lord and rest in His unfailing love.
(Psalm 32:10)
Pastor: Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous.
All: We will sing for joy, for our sins are forgiven and our hope is in the Lord. Amen.
(Psalm 32:11)
How Can It Be
I am guilty
Ashamed of what I've done
What I've become
These hands are dirty
I dare not lift them up
To the Holy One
You plead my cause
You right my wrongs
You break my chains
You overcome
You gave Your life
To give me mine
You say that I am free
I've been hiding
Afraid I've let You down
Inside I doubt
That You still love me
But in Your eyes
There's only grace now
You plead my cause
You right my wrongs
You break my chains
You overcome
You gave Your life
To give me mine
You say that I am free
How can it be yeah
How can it be
Though I fall You can make me new
From this death I will rise with You
Oh the grace reaching out for me
How can it be
How can it be
You plead my cause
You right my wrongs
You break my chains
You overcome
You gave Your life
To give me mine
You say that I am free
You plead my cause
You right my wrongs
You break my chains
You overcome
You gave Your life
To give me mine
You say that I am free
How can it be yeah
How can it be
Scripture Reading
2 Samuel 24:1-10 (NLT) - Once again the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and he caused David to harm them by taking a census. "Go and count the people of Israel and Judah," the LORD told him. So the king said to Joab and the commanders of the army, "Take a census of all the tribes of Israel-- from Dan in the north to Beersheba in the south-- so I may know how many people there are." But Joab replied to the king, "May the LORD your God let you live to see a hundred times as many people as there are now! But why, my lord the king, do you want to do this?" But the king insisted that they take the census, so Joab and the commanders of the army went out to count the people of Israel. First they crossed the Jordan and camped at Aroer, south of the town in the valley, in the direction of Gad. Then they went on to Jazzier, then to Gilead in the land of Tahtim-hodshi and to Dan-jaan and around to Sidon. Then they came to the stronghold of Tyre, and all the towns of the Hivites and Canaanites. Finally, they went south to Judah as far as Beersheba. Having gone through the entire land for nine months and twenty days, they returned to Jerusalem. Joab reported the number of people to the king. There were 800,000 capable warriors in Israel who could handle a sword, and 500,000 in Judah. But after he had taken the census, David's conscience began to bother him. And he said to the LORD, "I have sinned greatly by taking this census. Please forgive my guilt, LORD, for doing this foolish thing."

Out Of The Deep I Call
Out of the deep I call
To Thee O Lord to Thee
Before Thy Throne of grace I fall
Be merciful to me
Out of the deep I cry
The woeful deep of sin
Of evil done in days gone by
Of evil now within
Out of the deep of fear
And dread of coming shame
From morning watch till night is near
I plead the Precious Name
Lord there is mercy now
As ever was, with Thee
Before Thy Throne of grace I bow
Be merciful to me

Words of Institution / Communion Distribution
Holy Communion is offered to those who have been instructed in the Christian faith as confessed by the Lutheran Church. We believe that:
1) Jesus Christ is our only Lord and Savior from all sin, death, and the power of the devil;
2) the Risen Christ is really present in the Sacrament and that with the bread and wine we receive is His true Body and Blood; and
3) we resolve to dedicate our lives to the service of our Lord in His Body, the Church, by regular group worship, sacrificial giving, and thankful living.
If you have any questions please consult with the pastor.
Approach the altar on your own. Gluten-free hosts are available by requesting one from the communion server. Grape juice is located in the center ring of cups.
The Lord’s Prayer
All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
Psalm 32:10 (NIV) - "The Lord's unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in Him."
