I’m Not OK - Why Am I So Sad?
Welcome!
(Mark Wheeler)
Why am I so sad? When a loved one dies, it’s only natural to feel profound sadness, even depression and to withdraw or isolate ourselves. People grieve differently. It is a wonderful gift when friends and family reach out, spend time, help with projects, and do fun activities together with those facing sadness. Maybe you say "I'm not OK... why am I so sad?" If so, know that Jesus meets you with living hope.

Scriptures of Hope During Sadness
(Berniece Ruthenbeck & Peggy Vance)
1 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV) - Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.
John 11:25-26 (NIV) - Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?"
John 14:6 (NIV) - Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 17:3 (NIV) - Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.
John 10:27-28 (NIV) - My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
1 John 5:11-12 (NIV) - And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.
People of Hope Grieving Group Invite
We’d like to invite you to a gathering of very special people here at St. Peter’s who are familiar with sadness. We have several individuals who are grieving the loss of a spouse in the last months or years. This summer, I’d you are invited to be part of a group of men and women who have experienced the unique sadness of living after the death of a husband or a wife. We need others to remind us that until we are reunited in heaven one day, that we can live with hope. Starting in June, please join Pastor Mark as he launches a People of Hope grief group here at St. Peter’s in June. There is a sign up on the Welcome Center. Let us know if you are interested and what day would work best for you. And feel free to invite others who have had a shared experience with you.
Love Divine, All Loves Excelling
Love divine all love excelling
Joy of heaven to earth come down
Fix in us Thy humble dwelling
All Thy faithful mercies crown
Jesus thou art all compassion
Pure unbounded love thou art
Visit us with Thy salvation
Enter every trembling heart
Breathe O breathe Thy loving Spirit
Into every troubled breast
Let us all in Thee inherit
Let us find the promised rest
Take away the love of sinning
Alpha and Omega be
End of faith as its beginning
Set our hearts at liberty
Finish then Thy new creation
Pure and spotless let us be
Let us see Thy great salvation
Perfectly restored in Thee
Changed from glory into glory
Till in heaven we take our place
Till we cast our crowns before Thee
Lost in wonder love and praise
Scripture Reading
(Dan Utter)
Revelation 21:3-4 (NIV) - And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
STP KIDS Dismissal
STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!
Video Message
John 14:19 (NIV) - Because I live, you also will live.
Colossians 3:1-4 (NIV) - Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
Prayer
(Jen Wheeler)
All: Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for the power of Your life, death, and resurrection over sadness. May it give the assurance of hope for everlasting life to me and to all who put their trust in You. Amen.
The Apostles Creed
(Mark Wheeler)
All: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate. Was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
