Greeting & Announcements

Have you ever thought "I wonder how this is going to work out?" That is because you are in the middle of the story. New beginnings are exciting. Happy endings are delightful. But right now, you are in the middle of the story. And it is a good place to be because you are not alone!

The Middle

Pastor: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Pastor: And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.  (Philippians 1:6 (NLT))

All: Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.  (Philippians 3:12 (NIV))

Pastor: Today we are in the middle of the story. The Holy Spirit is at work in us, drawing us closer, strengthening us, moving in us. We are discovering God's goodness and seeing His glory.

All: I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us.  (Philippians 3:14 (TLB))

Spirit Move

I feel it in my bones You're about to move
I feel it in the wind You're about to ride in
You said that You would pour Your Spirit out
You said that You would fall on sons and daughters

I feel it in my bones You're about to move
I feel it in the wind You're about to ride in
You said that You would pour Your Spirit out
You said that You would fall on sons and daughters

So like the rain come drench us in love
And let Your glory rush in like a flood

We are fixed on this one thing
To know Your goodness and see Your glory
We're transformed by this one thing
To know Your presence and see Your beauty

I can see it now Your kingdom come
I can hear it now the sounds of Heaven
You said that if we ask we'll receive
We are asking for the greater measure

So like the rain come drench us in love
And let Your power rush in like a flood

We are fixed on this one thing
To know Your goodness and see Your glory
We're transformed by this one thing
To know Your presence and see Your beauty

So come and blow on through
Spirit move we're ready for You
To come and blow on through
Come and do what only you can do
So come and blow on through
Spirit move we're ready for You
To come and blow on through
Come and do what only you can do

We are fixed on this one thing
To know Your goodness and see Your glory
We're transformed by this one thing
To know Your presence and see Your beauty
We are fixed on this one thing
To know Your goodness and see Your glory
We're transformed by this one thing
To know Your presence and see Your beauty

Scripture Reading

Acts 1:1-14 (NIV) - In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven." Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk from the city. When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

Message

Acts 1:1-3 (NIV) - In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.

Acts 1:6-8 (NIV) - Then they gathered around him and asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

You’re always in the middle of the story.  Not the beginning, not the end

Acts 28:30-31 (MSG) - Paul lived for two years in his rented house. He welcomed everyone who came to visit. He urgently presented all matters of the kingdom of God. He explained everything about Jesus Christ. His door was always open.

The Apostles Creed

All: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate. Was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell.  The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church,  the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayer

If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team.

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Acts 1:11 (NIV) - “This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”

See A Victory/What A Beautiful Name

The weapon may be formed but it won't prosper
When the darkness falls it won't prevail
'Cause the God I serve knows only how to triumph
My God will never fail
My God will never fail

I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord
I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord

There's power in the mighty Name of Jesus
Every war He wages He will win
I'm not backing down from any giant
I know how this story ends
I know how this story ends

I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord
I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord

Death could not hold You
The veil tore before You
You silence the boast of sin and grave
The heavens are roaring
The praise of Your glory
For You are raised to life again
You have no rival
You have no equal
Now and forever God You reign
Yours is the kingdom
Yours is the glory
Yours is the Name above all names

I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord
I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You Lord
