What to Expect

Greeting & Announcements

We need others. Don't go it alone. What is Jesus doing in your life? Someone needs to hear your story.

This Week's Announcements

Don’t Go It Alone!

Pastor: Christians are called to support and care for one another, reflecting the love and service of Christ. The Bible emphasizes the importance of community and mutual support, encouraging us to meet the needs of others and to encourage one another in faith. Let's look to Scripture where we see we should not go it alone:

All: Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11

Pastor: And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.
Hebrews 10:24

All: Jesus told us: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another."
John 13:34

Pastor: Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
Colossians 3:16

All: Jesus said, “So then, everyone who hears my words and puts them into practice is like a wise man. He builds his house on the rock."
Matthew 7:24

Pastor: No one can lay any other foundation than what has already been laid. That foundation is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:11

Cornerstone

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus' Name

My hope is built on nothing less

I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus' Name

Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil

Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all

Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone
Faultless stand before the throne

Christ alone cornerstone
Weak made strong
In the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord Lord of all

Scripture Reading

Acts 2:42-47 (NIV) - They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

STP KIDS Dismissal

STP KIDS is the Children’s Ministry at St. Peter’s Edina, designed for all children from 6 months to 10 years old (Grade 5). Older children are welcome to participate as helpers. Our vision is to partner with parents in raising up a generation of children that will seek their God-given Kingdom mission and impact their world for Jesus!

This Week's Family Resources

Message

Hebrews 10:23-25 (NIV) - Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Missional Community - ”A smaller group of people who gather regularly in order to support each other as they learn to seek, recognize and respond to what Jesus is doing around them everyday as He carries out his redemptive mission.” Greg Finke, “Joining Jesus on His Mission”

Prayer

If you are in need of prayer, we would love the opportunity to pray with you! You can post a prayer on our online prayer wall, or submit a private prayer to our prayer team.

“Lord Jesus, give us the will to show forth in our lives what we profess with our lips. Amen.”

Submit Prayer

Confession and Forgiveness

Pastor: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

All: But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Pastor: Let us then confess our sins to God our Father.

All: Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean.  We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone.  We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.  We justly deserve your present and eternal punishment.  For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us.  Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways to the glory of your holy name.  Amen.

Pastor: In the mercy of almighty God, Jesus Christ was given to die for us, and for his sake God forgives us all our sins.  To those who believe in Jesus Christ he gives the power to become the children of God and bestows on them the Holy Spirit.  May the Lord, who has begun this good work in us, bring it to completion in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

All: Amen.

Communion

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod holds the Biblical teaching that in Communion we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ with the bread and wine for the forgiveness of sins. If you are a baptized Christian who has been instructed in the Biblical teaching of the real presence of the Christ in this meal and grace through faith in Christ, and if you agree with our confession of faith, please join with the fellowship of disciples in Holy Communion.

“Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup.  For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.” (1 Corinthians 11:28-29)

The Lord’s Prayer

All: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

1 John 4:7 (TLB)  Dear friends, let us practice loving each other, for love comes from God and those who are loving and kind show that they are the children of God, and that they are getting to know him better.

Send Me

If it’s bandaging the broken
Or washing filthy feet
Here I am Lord send me
If it’s loving one another
Even when we don’t agree
Here I am Lord send me

If I’m poor or if I’m wealthy
I’ll serve You just the same
Here I am Lord send me
On the mountain or the valley
I will choose to praise
Here I am Lord send me

If I’m known by how I love
Let my life reflect how much
I love You I love You
And before You even ask
My answer will be yes
‘Cause I love You I love You

If the truth cuts like an arrow
I will say it anyway
Here I am Lord send me
If it means that they’ll reject me
Lord I will still obey
Here I am Lord send me

If I’m known by how I love
Let my life reflect how much
I love You I love You
And before You even ask
My answer will be yes
‘Cause I love You I love You

When I’m standing in Your glory
I’ll be glad I chose to say
Here I am Lord send me
Well done good and faithful
I live to hear You say
Here I am Lord send me
Here I am Lord send me
Here I am Lord send me

If I’m known by how I love
Let my life reflect how much
I love You I love You
And before You even ask
My answer will be yes
‘Cause I love You I love You
If I’m known by how I love
Let my life reflect
How much I love You I love You
And before You even ask
My answer will be yes
‘Cause I love You I love You
